Recent footage from BP undersea cameras show oil leaking from fissures in the sea bed. This may mean that the casing has collapsed. If so, the situation is far worse than BP and the government are stating. Pressure from a well as deep as the Horizon, if unchecked by a well casing, can pool in porous rock layers and layers of methane hydrate underneath the sea floor. In such situations, large pools of oils and gas can form and push up through cracks in the sea floor. We may be dealing with many leaks in addition to the well head.
